How to Practice Peace

To maintain peace in your daily life you have to know how to connect to your inner peace of mind. How do you maintain peace within yourself? When more people take responsibility for facilitating their own inner peace, their self-compassion and kindness, the world will be a more peaceful place. It may sound like a fairytale but with intention and dedication we transform ourselves and our surroundings. How do you practice peace in your surroundings today?

Individual peace comes from a profound commitment to mindful living, peaceful living, but most of all kindness towards yourself, and compassion towards your life experiences. Individual peace comes from connecting to yourself consciously, coming home to your body again and again, fostering a connection to your truth, your authenticity, your heart and soul.

Can you remember when peace of mind did not come naturally, and you found it rather difficult to be calm and kind and peaceful? Taken that it was not a situation that was actually dangerous or harmful for you, it might have been because you became judgemental, critical, or had your ego bruised. Possibly, it was because you were hard on yourself, felt foolish, and judged yourself as well as others. Could the outcome have been different if you were grounded in your peace, your authenticity, and shining your inner light?

Reflect on what this subject does to you, and if you feel it is rather annoying or if you feel optimistic about it. Reflect upon sensations and emotions that show up for you.

Practice peace as a collective

Collective peace of mind comes from a collective commitment to our own wellbeing, our personal mental health, our connection to our authenticity, our self-love, and wanting only the best for our surroundings and ourselves in it. To practice peace we have to be able to recognize when we are at fault, when our behavior is coming from a sense of danger, hurt, fear; expressed as anger, judgment, tyranny, threats or violence. A collective that can practice peace transforms, because they no longer blame “the others” or “them” for their own suffering. Can our collective set the intention to practice peace? When enough people do it, when communities do it, the peace practice has an impact, spreading like rings on water.

Practicing peace during wars

Peace in the world is not achieved by wars or fights. Peace is not claimed with hate and ignorance. Wars start from a place of ignorance and stupidity, from systems of political economics, from polarity of “us” and “them”. Any type of wars or tyranny against people, or minorities, or our sovereignty, would not be so easy to implement if more people practiced peace within themselves as individuals, and for their immediate surroundings and relationships. That intention to practice peace has a power to create more light and kindness in the world as a whole.

When more people move from their racing fearful mind to their heart center, and connect to their body, their emotions, their needs and desires, we will share our world with more consciously connected peoples. The more we individually want to understand our origin, our ancestors’ truths, our authenticity, and our hero’s journey, the more connected we will be to our embodiment, our countrymen and neighbors.

How to practice peace

To bring awareness to our way of reacting and behaving is to invite transformation into our lives. To bring awareness to our emotions and our relationships is to invite transformation and opportunity. As we intentionally practice peace our intention grows in power.

–       Practice kindness toward yourself

–       Meet yourself with compassion

–       Be mindful of your words and reactions

–       Connect to your intention

–       Accept your truth and authenticity

–       Meet others with kindness and compassion instead of reacting to all that they say and do

–       Do not take things personally, not everything is about you

Practicing peace awakens the heart

Practice peace in the face of conflict and polarity by bringing conscious awareness to your intention and your own behavior. This is an exercise of heart awakening energy. As a collective we are going through a heart awakening energy portal together. Embrace the intention, embrace the power that you have to transform the energy of tyranny to kindness, peace and compassion.

Now is the season of Advent, which is the season of light, of spreading goodness and light in your surroundings. How do you connect to the light that is within you? What does it feel like or look like to you, how can you imagine it? Practicing peace is equally an invitation to letting your inner light flow along your spine and through your heart, in a meditation or meditative dance, and notice it present in conversations, negotiations, and confrontations. Spreading light outward starts from recognizing your inner light, your inner joy and power of goodness. When we connect to our inner light we connect to that inner wisdom that knows how to practice peace intuitively.
